Who runs this
Tiffin Finder is built and run in Calgary by Sites by Adeel, a one-person web studio. It isn’t affiliated with Alberta Health Services, the City of Calgary or any kitchen listed here. The preview you’re looking at was designed and built as a single-page app with no accounts, no database and no tracking, so it could be shown to kitchens and households before anything real goes live.
Why permit-verified
Home tiffin services are a real part of how Calgary eats, especially across the northeast and in Airdrie. Most of the demand and most of the supply moves through WhatsApp groups and marketplace posts, where a household has no way to tell a permitted kitchen from one that isn’t, and a permitted kitchen has no way to show the difference.
Alberta requires an AHS Food Handling Permit to sell hot meals, and getting one is real work — an approved kitchen, an inspection, a City licence. We think that work should be visible. So Tiffin Finder lists only kitchens whose permit we’ve checked, shows the date we checked it, and says plainly what that check does and doesn’t mean. You can read the details on How permits work.
What we deliberately don’t do
- We don’t take orders or payments. You order with the kitchen directly, on WhatsApp or by phone, the way most households already do.
- We don’t deliver, and we don’t set prices.
- We don’t publish home addresses — only the areas a kitchen delivers to.
