1. What Tiffin Finder is, and isn’t

Tiffin Finder is a directory. It lists home tiffin kitchens in and around Calgary whose Alberta Health Services (AHS) Food Handling Permit we have checked, and shows the menu, prices and contact details each kitchen gives us.

Tiffin Finder does not take orders or payments and is not the seller of any meal. When you tap “Order on WhatsApp” or “Call”, you are contacting the kitchen directly. Your order, payment, delivery and any refund are between you and the kitchen.

In this preview version every listing is a sample with made-up names and phone numbers. Nothing on the site is a real offer of food until real, verified kitchens are added.

2. If you’re a household

  • You may browse, follow kitchens and sign up for alerts free of charge.
  • Menus, prices, delivery areas and availability are set by each kitchen and can change without notice. Confirm with the kitchen when you order.
  • Tell the kitchen about allergies and dietary needs before ordering. Labels such as “veg only”, “halal” or “Jain” are the kitchen’s own statements about its cooking; we display them but cannot guarantee them.
  • If you have a food-safety concern about a kitchen, contact AHS Environmental Public Health (1-833-476-4743). You can also tell us so we can review the listing.
  • Don’t misuse the site: no scraping of kitchen contact details, no harassment of kitchens, and no attempts to interfere with how the site works.

3. If you’re a kitchen

By asking to be listed, you agree that:

  • You hold a valid AHS Food Handling Permit for the kitchen where the meals are prepared, and you will keep it valid for as long as you are listed.
  • You comply with the Alberta Food Regulation and any conditions on your permit, and you hold any municipal business licence your city requires.
  • You will tell us within 48 hours if your permit is suspended, cancelled, expires, or if the kitchen you cook in changes.
  • We will remove your listing on any AHS closure order, and may remove or pause it if we cannot re-confirm your permit, if we receive credible safety complaints, or if listing details are inaccurate.
  • The information you give us — name, cuisine, menu, prices, delivery areas, contact details — is accurate and yours to publish, and you give us permission to display it. You can ask us to update or remove your listing at any time.
  • Listing is free. If we later offer paid “Pro” features, they will be optional and described separately before you pay for anything.

4. What “Permit verified” means

“Permit verified” with a date means that, on that date, we saw a current AHS Food Handling Permit that names the kitchen the listing is for. “Verification pending” means we have not finished that check.

Verification is not an inspection, a food-safety rating, or an endorsement by AHS or the City of Calgary. We do not inspect kitchens and cannot guarantee that a permitted kitchen follows every rule every day. Permits can lapse between our checks.

5. Complaints and takedowns

If a listing is inaccurate, out of date, uses your name or content without permission, or raises a safety concern, tell us through the contact form. Our target is to respond and act — by correcting, pausing or removing the listing — within 48 hours of hearing from you. Urgent food-safety matters should also go to AHS directly.

6. Content and the site itself

Kitchen names, menus and descriptions belong to the kitchens that gave them to us. The site’s design, code and text belong to Tiffin Finder. You may share links to any page freely.

7. Liability, in plain words

We provide the site as it is, without warranties. We are not responsible for the food, the service, delivery, pricing or conduct of any kitchen, or for anything that happens between a household and a kitchen. To the extent Alberta law allows, our liability to you for anything connected with the site is limited to nothing more than the amount you paid us — which, in this version, is zero.

8. Changes and law

We may update these terms as the service grows; the date at the top tells you when we last did. Continued use after a change means you accept it. These terms are governed by the laws of Alberta and Canada.
